Civic Signs

To ensure emergency responders can find your home day or night, follow these provincial standards:

• Orientation: Do not use vertical numbering. Numbers should be horizontal.

• Height: Post the sign at least 1.2 meters (48 inches) above the ground (measured from the bottom of the number).

• Visibility: Ensure the sign is visible from both directions of traffic flow.

• Distance: Sign posts should be within 5 meters (15 feet) of the road.

• Color: Use reflective white numbers on a reflective blue background.

• Obstructions: Keep the sign clear of shrubs, snow banks, and other visual obstructions.
